Branford Marsalis On Tour
We
are pleased to announce that in addition to select classical performances with the North Carolina Symphony, the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, and the YOSA Philharmonic, as well as performances with his jazz Quartet, this fall Branford Marsalis will be joining the highly celebrated Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia in a series of concerts titled “Marsalis Well-Tempered.” The group will perform Baroque masterpieces by Albinoni, Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and others. Branford Discusses his Collaboration with the Grateful Dead in Rolling Stone
In March 1990, the Grateful Dead’s bassist, Phil Lesh, invited Branford Marsalis to perform with the band at the Nassau Coliseum. The concert became a favorite among Grateful Dead fans who collected recordings of live performances, and this September, the performance will be included in a new, limited edition CD set, Spring 1990 (The Other One). Rolling Stone interviewed Branford about his experiences with the Grateful Dead and their fans - it makes for an entertaining read here
