July is Claudia Acuña’s birthday month! Have you seen this video of Claudia singing with the Orquesta Sinfónica Universidad de Concepción during a concert in tribute to the music of Chilean singer Violeta Parra? Wow! Claudia performs songs by Victor Jara, another leader of the Nueva Canción Chilena movement, as part of the repertoire on her Marsalis Music release En Este Momento.

Congrats to Joey Calderazzo on his new album release! Joey Calderazzo Trio Live features Calderazzo on piano, Orlando Le Fleming on bass and Donald Edwards on drums performing a mixed program of Calderazzo’s compositions and a number of choice standards.
