The Making of Four MFs Playin‘ Tunes
Last October, Branford Marsalis, Joey Calderazzo, Eric Revis, and Justin Faulkner came together to record Four MFs Playin’ Tunes [2] over two days at the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham, North Carolina. Our friend Charles Cardello of Bifocal Media [3] recorded the sessions and gives us a terrific overview of the band’s recording process. Watch it now on the Marsalis Music YouTube channel [4]! [4]
AllAboutJazz.com is featuring footage of the Branford Marsalis Quartet recording “Whiplash” as their Daily Jazz Video of the Day today! View it here. [5]
You can purchase “Whiplash” as part of the iTunes exclusive Four MFs Playin’ Tunes EP [6]. We were able to get our hands on a few copies of the deluxe 180-gram high definition vinyl version of Four MFs which we offered as a special Record Store Day release in April. We know that it was not available everywhere and the stores that did carry it sold out right away, so we wanted to make sure that our dedicated listeners have a chance to purchase this very special item. It’s available exclusively online at our store [7] while supplies last! Four MFs will be available digitally and on CD August 7, 2012.

Honors Series Bundle [9]
The Marsalis Music Honors Series is designed to document the music of established, if often underappreciated, giants of jazz. Young players are included on the recordings so that the featured jazz veterans can pass down their knowledge to the newer generation. This bundle includes all four Marsalis Music Honors Series recordings by Michael Carvin [10], Jimmy Cobb [11], Bob French [12], and Alvin Batiste [13]. Available for $36 plus shipping and handling.
Marsalis Family Bundle [9]
It is extraordinarily rare for the musical members of the Marsalis family to all get together in performance. Two concerts, both in honor of patriarch Ellis Marsalis, are captured by Marsalis Music on A Jazz Celebration [14] and Music Redeems [15]. This bundle includes the A Jazz Celebration CD, the Music Redeems CD, and a poster featuring artwork from Music Redeems signed by Ellis Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, and Jason Marsalis for $40.00 plus shipping and handling.
‘FOOTSTEPS’ Discount code [9]
On Footsteps of Our Fathers [16], Branford Marsalis performs a joyous homage to jazz immortals. Purchase the Footsteps of Our Fathers CD, enter the promo code FOOTSTEPS at checkout, and receive 20% off of your entire purchase at the Marsalis Music store [9].
